Last year I sampled my first beauty advent calendar and I have to say, this year I want them all!

I kicked off this Christmas with a Bodyshop calendar (they also sell premium versions) and I have to say, for £60 I think it is incredible value. My favourites are the frosted cranberry & frosted plum shimmer lotions that I hadn't tried before today. Shimmery body lotions are oh so my thing! If it's not yours then fear not, there's also a non shimmery fuji green tea lotion that comes with it's matching mini shower gel.

I've been known to purchase their  elderflower eye gel (best kept in fridge to reduce puffiness), Shea body butter, hand creams and kohl pencils before which are also great value.

The two tubes of hand cream and lip balms will definitely come in useful, alongside the sample sized night & day Vitamin E creams.

So, if you choose to buy this box here's what you get...

Last night, the lovely people at Molton Brown invited a chum and I to go along to their Covent Garden store to peruse their Christmas collection. Before I knew what had come over me, I was grabbing goodies with one hand and balancing boxes in my arms like a game of jenga. I may have gone overboard with the baubles but I'm sure some will make it as gifts for other people. You may have guessed that my current fave scent is vintage, with it's notes of vetiver, petitgrain, grapefruit and elderflower, plus it looks fantastic on the bathroom shelf with it's pretty shimmery gel.

I also bought a fabulous black peppercorn cracker for my brother. I currently have this scent in my shower (alongside the tobacco absolute). It is a warm spicy scent that is also fantastic in the bath to scent your whole bathroom.

In the bottom picture, I've arranged the hand washes in order of my favourite scents, with the rhubarb and rose being my ultimate fave. I would love to see MB bring out more mouisturising versions of their soaps, but until then, I will continue to purchase the matching hand creams and use them separately.

I also received a lovely Christmas gift from Molton Brown (the 12 miniature shower gel set) which is available to purchase as a gift for £39.

All in all, a fab night, with live music and a calligrapher on hand to personalise gifts. If you get the chance, I highly recommend you attend one of these events as it's a great opportunity to get almost everyones Christmas pressies as well as treating yourself.

River Island

Picture this... I'm stood in front of my two bulging wardrobes and I literally have nothing to wear. How does this happen? I've got plenty of things, but they are either too big, too small, too smart, too long... etc and the list goes on.

So this Autumn I have adopted a little of Susie Faux's mentality, and I went back to Gretchen Rubin's book 'Happiness Project' and flicked to the chapter on clearing out clutter that is no longer in use and mission 'capsule wardrobe' commenced!

Now, I may have been the only gal that hadn't experienced Primark up until this point, but that all changed yesterday!
Check out my #Elfie Crimbo PJ's and bobble hat, who'd have thought capsulating a wardrobe involved so much shopping? Now I just need to make a little room for my new purchases :D

Party Shoes

It's been a while since I've spoken about nail polish, this was mainly due to my new found obsession with Shellac. Unfortunately, my finger nails are currently requiring some TLC away from the monthly acetone soaks and buffing, as they have become as weak as a sheet of wet blotting paper.

After rummaging through my Ciaté collection, I found these fabulous autumnal colours and just had to share them. I feel like theses shades often get overlooked on my shelves but they look amazing on the fingernails, especially party shoes which makes a fantastic top coat over any colour. I applied two coats of each polish for the photos, encore! gives the most opaque coverage out of all of the shades and I usually get around 3-4 days before you see any tip wear or cracking with a decent base & top coat.

With all of the wonderful shades out this season, I'll have plenty of polishes to play with while my nails are taking a little time out.

I'd love to know what shades have you been loving this season?

4 November 2015

This month I've been loving orange lipsticks, I keep toing & froing between purple & orange shades and in October orange won.

After trying out HD brows last week, I have persevered with the bigger brow look and browzings have made a daily appearance in my make up bag. My skin has been behaving itself lately too, so all I've needed for a base is Benefit's eye & face primer, Collection under eye concealer (looks fab as a highlight on the triangle of light areas) and Maybelline 24H super stay foundation.

I can't be the only person that has bought an iPhone 6S and realised that the battery life will barely get you through your Twitter timeline. So, in a bid to stop myself running out of charge by lunchtime (I'm a real social media fanatic) check out my cute Danboard charger that I received as a birthday gift. I get around 3 full charges out of it and it's definitely one of the most useful pressies I've ever received (you can find him here, NB the lightening cable not included).

Last but not least, is my new dressing table. This was a cheap & cheerful eBay purchase found here. Don't you just love those old movies, where the leading lady takes off her make up and earrings after a glamorous evening out. There may not be anything remotely glamorous about me attempting to put my war paint on at 4:30AM before heading out to work, but it looks far more organised. I still store the majority of my beauty products in my IKEA Alex drawers, however, this looks much prettier and adds a little Audrey Hepburn glamour to the bedroom.
