If you read my previous post, you will see that I have been making my way through lots of beauty purchases and to my dismay, one of my all time favourite daytime scents ran out. Luckily for me, duty free came to the rescue and I snapped up a bottle of Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb on the cheap.

As with most Flowerbombholics, my other fave scent tends to be Theirry Mugler's Angel. It isn't as if either of the fragrances are similar, in fact I'd say they are worlds apart, but I just love both of them.

Flowerbomb contains notes of bergamot, tea, jasmine, freesia, orchid, centiflora rose and most distinctly patchouli. The scent lasts for hours and a couple of spritzes is enough to last all morning . I admit, I tend to overdo it, leaving a trail of patchouli & rose wherever I walk... Being a nurse, there are far worse things that you could smell on me right?!?

I'd describe this scent as a sweet, feminine scent, which leaves a vanilla, violet and rosy cloud of fragrance all over you. It settles into a mild jasmine, slightly spicy scent until eventually unleashing it's base notes of rose and patchouli.

Lastly, look at that amazing packaging. If your ever going to own a grenade, why not make it a  translucent pink one that explodes into a sweet floral scent, that's possibly in my opinion, one of the most addictive scents on the market. Alongside the Flowerbomb pictured here, I have also owned the special edition extreme, intense and rose versions... all of which I have loved!

Have you tried any of the Flowerbomb range, if so, which was your favourite?

14 March 2015

I was probably not the only one that left 2014 with bathroom shelves buckling under the strain of unused beauty products, however, I'm slowly seeing an end to all that, I'm now wading my way through piles of beauty products to bring you reviews of some of the best and worst products I have used up. This weeks products are...

Batiste Dry Shampoo
I love to use this for extra volume and refreshing second day hair.
I have to say, I go between scents, however, my fave is the spray made
for brown hair and I always have a blush mini in my handbag.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara
At first I didn't like this mascara, but after a few weeks as the formula began to
thicken I began to love the way it gave volume. I didn't particularly see any extra
length and it dried out within 3 months, but it was great while it lasted.

That Gal Brightening Face Primer
A pretty pink shimmery primer that helps brighten your face. It doesn't offer more staying power to foundation than any other primers, but it feels nice on the skin, I like the fact that the packaging has a pump action, much more hygienic than wands.

Benefit Stay Don't Stray
This primer saw me ditch my UDPP, It's thick enough to help conceal my under eye area and offers a fab base to hold onto my eye shadows as well as enhance the pigments.
The main con is the packaging. I prefer to buy the pump but lately all I have found is
the wand version. This is one of my favourite eye shadow primers.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
It makes me very sad to see my all time favourite scent is now empty. This is a sweet floral scent that has Bergamot & Tea, Jasmine, Freesia, Citrus, Rose and Patchouli...  I also love their rose and intense versions. This will definitely be on the repurchase list!

Has anyone else been guilty of over purchasing on their beauty products?

£3.99 / 4.5 MLs

Fantasy Fire beside different coloured bases it's layered with

Left Collection Blue Moon & Right Nails Inc Teal layered with Fantasy Fire

Left Ciate Boudoir & Right Nails Inc Power Pink Layered with Fantasy Fire

You may remember in a previous max effects blogpost, I mentioned that I really wanted to buy this colour and after weeks of searching, I have finally managed to snaffle it and it has definitely lived up to my expectations. You can find my previous post here.

As you can see from the swatches above, I tried layering fantasy fire over four very different coloured bases to see the different effects that these colours may have. I particularly liked it paired with Nails Inc teal, the green shines through the duo chrome and gives an oil slick / jewel beetle effect, which is really pretty as it catches the light, it almost appears to morph into different colours before your eyes.

In the last piccie, you can see it in it's full glory on it's own, which I find is a beautiful blueish purple with a pink & red iridescent shimmer.  The polish lasted 2 days before noticeable tip wear and all in all, this is definitely one for the favourites list. A word of warning though, this polish is quite thin and takes 4 coats to get the desired opacity, luckily it is relatively quick to dry.

Have you tried any colours from the max effects range?

Swim Up option
So Urmmm... I Guess I'll Find Another Route
Cobá Pyramid... Going Up
Cobá Pyramid... Coming Down
Chicen Itza  Pyramid
Open Sky Cenote
Cenote XCanche

It's hard to believe that exactly one month ago I was jumping on a plane to go and see one of my BFF's get wed. If you follow my IG you may know I stayed at the El Dorado Royale and I have had a couple of requests to write about the trip. Sooo, as well my usual weekend beauty post, I thought I would post this as an extra midweek treat... you lucky blighters!

The El Dorado Royale is an adults only, all inclusive resort, however, we did venture out to see parts of Mexico that we would have otherwise missed out on. The staff were friendly, the room was kept clean and overall they got a big thumbs up. If you are going there, then I recommend getting a room the 'swim up' option, it is nice to have a little pool on the patio for when you want to relax and dip your feet in the water over a coffee watching the sunrise/sunset.

One tip I would give to anyone thinking of visiting this resort is to get to your personal concierge ASAP and book in for dinners as some of the restaurants require booking and the grill had a 6 day waiting list. On researching the area, travel sites often said that it is not expected to tip, this is inaccurate, In the resort and everywhere I visited, it was very much a tipping culture, in fact, locals rely on it.

I visited some amazing sites, my favourite had to be the Cenote XCanche, it was almost like venturing into a private cave which had catfish that swam upto you and swallows circling above, a far cry from routine London city life.

I'm currently looking for inspiration for my next trip, Any recommendations welcome...
