Flash Radiance Skincare Brush
£36 for 1.3 oz

YSL claim that the top secrets range allows us everyday girls have radiant, refreshed looking skin to hide all of those signs of our faced paced lifestyles. I use this product as a primer under foundation to give a flawless finish and the light reflecting pigments are supposed to give a flash of radiance. I'm not sure about the claim of it hiding my imperfections but it does leave me with an incredibly smooth finish.

Product when applied to skin.

One con for me is the brush. Although I wash it regularly, I'm sure it's a bacteria trap and if you do suffer from breakouts this application technique may make you more prone to spots.

All in all, I'm happy with the product but won't immediately re-purchase it, as I'm hoping to find another product that can help hide those dreaded imperfections as well as give that smooth and supple finish :)

Ok, So as anyone who follows me on Twitter will know, I have been sunning myself in Hawaii in a bid to escape the cold. Not only did Hawaii provide the sun I was yearning for, but it also had some fantastic shops *Happy Dance*

When I was wondering around I must have stumbled across almost as many Louis Vuitton shops as I did Starbucks, So to fulfill my need for LV loving...

Diary & Agenda

A little Couture courtesy of Juicy

Earbuds and Glittery Pouch

And a ridiculous amount of US chewing gum to save importing it when I get home, so it's a sensible thing right?? Some of them claim to brighten my teeth too so it's an investment. hmmm...

And my old time trusty favourite.

And I'm going to try these guys out as I've read so many rave reviews...

As you can see, my new obsession is mouthcare and getting that Simon Cowell smile :D

Has anyone else tried the Crest 3D White range?  Any hints or tips for bright white teeth greatly appreciated

Nothing says Crimbo more than the traditional red lip. It can add glam chic to almost any outfit, so if your tired of the smokey eye / pale lip combo then here's my little tips for keeping a beautiful rouge  pout to last throughout the day/night.

Dab eyeshadow in colour close to lippie on lipstick to set it and keep it in place.

Another strange trick I've heard of is to add a thin coat Vaseline on front teeth to stop the lipstick and lips sticking to teeth. Some people claim it makes teeth appear whiter to, but I'm not so sure about that.

Satin lippie gives the illusion of fuller looking lips or add a dab of gloss on the middle of the lips.

Also apply a little liner close to the lippie colour to give definition.

Whilst having a bit of a sort out and de-cluttering my bulging bathroom shelves I came across these little samples I received on a past shopping spree.

These sample bottles were perfect for hand luggage so I took them on my plane journeys to see just how well they performed.

First up, BENEFIANCE Wrinkle Lifting Concentrate

I used this dabbed on underneath my usual eye cream, the skin under my eyes tends to be dry, especially on long haul flights and I hate to admit it but wrinkles are slowly starting to set in. During the flight it kept my skin soft but I didn't notice any plumping effect, so I continued to use it for a few days until the tube was empty ( a little goes a long way). After a few days I found my skin had a lovely glow, but still there was no improvement in the fine lines. This product smells florally and I found it over powering and it reminds me of the stereotypical OAP perfume... Yuk!

Secondly, BENEFIANCE Concentrated Neck Contour Treatment

A retexturising cream  that I thought would be a great idea to prevent sagging. I've never had a separate neck cream so I was looking forward to seeing the results. I like the cream itself, not to greasy and quickly absorbed. I didn't see any tightness in my skin but it did give me some much needed radiance. The only con to this product is that it smells yukky to me, like an old stale perfume.

Thirdly, THE SKINCARE Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

This was gentle on my sensitive skin and left my skin fresh and temporarily oil free. It has a creamy mild foaming effect and a little goes a long way. It didn't feel like it stripped my skin like some of the other brands. I liked the smell of this product, it is a fresh scent but not over-powering. I would consider purchasing this in the future.

Last up, THE SKINCARE Hydro-Refining Softener Lotion

The idea is to use this product after toning and before moisturising the skin. It should help the moisturiser absorb and is great for sensitive skin. It's alcohol free and helped my skin rehydrate from the aeroplane recycled air and holiday sun. Again, a fresh clean and non-overpowering scent, it reminds me of sunscreen :)

Ok, So I probably won't be purchasing these products anytime soon but I did like the moisturising effects of the Wrinkle Lifting Concentrate. The Cleansing Foam worked well at removing my make-up and I'll continue to use the Softener lotion until the bottles empty :)

Admittedly, this was the first time I have been in a benefit shop and been offered a Brazilian or a Brow Tint, but as the service was there, I absolutely had to try it out.

benefitbrowbar.com/

I opted for a Brow Arch, The staff were friendly and talked me through what shape I would suit and tips on how I could improve my face shape - mainly being the fact I should perhaps grow a thicker brow so I'm now in brow rehab Ha Ha. Miss F was attentive and I didn't have to queue even though I didn't have an appointment, it was reasonably priced at around $ 20 ish plus tips (converts to around £13.50-£14 @ time done)

It was a typical wax with after epilation gel but the piece de resistance was the fact that they then took extra time to re-apply make up they'd removed to allow me to continue shopping without that red appearance. The con to this was that the girl that took over from Miss F almost poked my eye out with a mascara brush.. ouchies!

Behold the famous Brow Arch...
With Browzings.

I also purchased the Browzings brow shaping Kit in Medium.
$30 (worked out around £2.50 cheaper than buying in UK)

And they gave me a free sample to try out too :)

All in all, it was great service and value for money. I would definitely use this service again.

Nothing says Christmas quite like a traditional red lip, So as I was feeling all Christmassy today I thought I'd post a summary 3 of my favourite red lip products this month, which should surely have you locking lips with a sweetheart under the mistletoe.

First up, ILLAMASQUA Maneater lipstick.
£15.50

A word of warning, it's a little tricky to apply and has a tendency to smudge when you smooch ;)
This type of shade of red is ideal for those with olive skin tones.

Next up, M.A.C. Russian Red Lip Glass
£12.50

Easy to apply, slightly tacky but not uncomfortable and will easily smudge. Left my lips feeling moisturised. I think this Cheery Cherry shade would be gorgeous on the more fairer of us princesses :)

And finally, Benefit Benetint lip & cheek stain
£24.50

Not as likely to smudge as the previous two, however left my lips with a dry sensation and needs regular re-application.

Now, Pucker up my lovelies...

Where I work, we have the joys of working most Christmas and New Years, So to lighten the mood I love to indulge in a little materialism ( the limit spend is £30) and gain a few chuckles along the way.

I've received some real corkers over the last few years, from a set of socks to a Hollyoaks Hunks calendar and the odd bubble bath set ( I don't have a bath) thrown in for good measure.

A few of my Secret Santa gifts (£30 or under) are...

 L'Occitane Trio Hand Cream Collection

$26 plus tax
(The UK version is £20)

The Shea Butter hand cream is absolutely wonderful and L'Occitane have three seasonal fragrances in the Christmas set, This is the set from the USA as it includes a slightly different variety than whats available in the UK, It has Citron and Clementine, Shea Butter & Rose and Violette all in 30 ml tubes.
A real bonus is that they can be bought wrapped, a fantastic time saver. I think Miss J will Love this.

Ok, So this next gift was mainly chosen because I know it's something that my colleague is desperate to try. I obviously also purchased one for myself too.

Liz Earle Healthy Beautiful Skin Kit
£28

Three simple steps to to healthy-looking, beautiful skin. The set contains a Cleanse & Polish cloth cleanser (50ml), Instant Boost Skin Tonic (50ml) and a normal/combination Skin Repair Moisturiser (50ml) as well as the muslim cloth. I've seen that the muslim cloths are also sold seperately in many retailers.

I've also gone for a very safe option with one of the girlies with the Baileys & choccies combo It's available at Very and Littlewoods I believe. Just be aware of delivery restrictions in relation to Christmas, I'm still waiting for mine.

£30
Piccie: Very.co.uk
In my local Sainsburys there's currently a deal on their Baileys were you receive a gift :)

If your celebrating the Christmas season enjoy indulging in your Christmas shopping :)

I find the 'one for you, two for me' approach eases the Christmas shopping blues :)

ESSIE Super Bossa Nova
£9.95 for 13.5 ml

This pretty pink polish I believe was released as part of their summer collection, but as I've been abroad quite a lot this Winter I thought I'd match my nail polish to the weather reports :)

On application the polish has a very gritty texture but does dry with a smooth finish. It dries quickly and required two coats. In the intense heat it didn't start to melt off and didn't chip for the first 3 days.

As you can see in the piccie, the polish has a lovely purple shimmer that shows up in certain lights.

Yet again fellow beauty bloggers I have been treating myself to a little retail therapy.

One of the glorious things about Crimbo for me is the self indulgent gift sets, so here is two of my favourite sets that you can purchase in hair salons around the UK.

First up, The Party Girl Set
£25.10

This set is fabulous value for money as you basically get the the Maxxed-Out for free. I'm a shine addict and use the After Party & Headrush as part of my daily hair routine. The After Party Cream helps tame my curly hair when I'm blow drying my hair and prevents frizz. It gives it a healthy look, however does not appear to have any repairing or protective properties.

Headrush is described as a shine adrenaline with a superfine mist for extreme gloss with all over coverage. It smells fab and I use it on the mid to lower lengths on dry hair.

Secondly, The Superstar Volume Set
£17

Ok, So this is a change from my usual Root Boost but hopefully it can perform just as well. This set is all about adding volume and texture. The Superstar Queen For A Day is applied to the roots of the hair and then the Superstar Blowdry Lotion is worked into the mid and lower lengths to provide thickness and movement.

Expect a review on these sets in the New Year :D

Hope your all well,

Em xx

Chanel have some amazing colours out and some of their well blogged colours include Black Pearl  and Particuliere  which I'm pretty sure most of you will know about. I love the colours so much I have re-purchased both this year and wished to pledge my own homage to them :)

Black Pearl (513)
£17

The lid pops off just like the YSL la laque, to reveal a top that unscrews and is attached to the brush.

Looking in the bottle, there is some beautiful flecks of green shimmer. It has a wonderful glossy effect. It does have a greyish green opalescence which I totally love.

It took around 15 minutes to dry, 2 medium coats later and voila...

Particuliere (505)
£16.50

And the token top off piccie...

This polish is described ny Chanel as a grey creme, but I would be more inclined to say it's a mushroom / brown / taupe.

2 thickish coats and it gives a great finish.

Thank you for reading, please feel free to send any recommendations of other colours / dupes / brands you have been loving recently.

Hello there everyone, So the product under scrutiny today is the...

L'Oreal Perfect Clean Foaming Gentle Scrub
£4.99

After purchasing the foaming cream wash (pink one) I was left disappointed as it was drying to my skin and left my face feeling tight even though it was marketed for dry/sensitive skin.

I however found myself intrigued to try this exfoliator which is marketed for all skin types.

The main thing that separates this product from others is the scrublet. The soft flexible brush and scrub offer to provide us with smaller pores, velvety smooth skin and a clean sensation.

Meet the scrublet

The scrublet is very soft, I use it daily and I've not had any irritation to my very sensitive skin. I found it really easy to use, it left my skin smooth and clean.

The product itself has a really yummy fruity smell, I squirt a bit on the scrublet and use it when I'm in the shower daily.

A small amount of this product goes a long way, it foams up and it is easy to control the amount of product your squeezing out of the bottle. The particles were fine, they didn't seem to rip the skin like some harsher exfoliators can.

I prefer the exfoliator in comparison to the cream wash. It hasn't irritated my skin or left it feeling dry or tight.

Hope everyone is well, Thanks for reading :)

9 December 2011

It promised to erase my fine lines and creases from around the mouth and nose. It states it will leave us looking younger and refreshed, sounds fab doesn't it? Who wouldn't want that right???

As your probably aware this product was discontinued a while ago in stores, but after so many rave reviews I went hunting it out online.

I found it on Amazon for £17 for 2.4G

It is a creamy concealer stick with a one shade suits all approach.

I think personally its more of a highlighter than concealer, quite frankly I can see why it was discontinued and I'm dissapointed in the product. I used it on my brow bone and around the eyes, which looked terrible. It worked well on cupids bow sealing my lipstick however.

If anyone is thinking of going online and purchasing one of these, I really would urge you to think twice. There are some great concealers out there within the same price range.
